| The DDGM is looking to
place a list of Past masters and their telephone numbers on the website, who
are willing to teach the degree work to the various officers and members of
the 7th District that need assistance. The DDGM and Mike Huck, PM asked
the members present to give them input on the District Website. Mike Huck PM
specifically requested members to inform him of any corrections or additions
to the site. Since the site is to the benefit of the membership, correct
information is imperative.
The DDGM reviewed the candidate proficiency requirements. Lou Fiorini PM
informed the steering group how he handles the prospective member
investigation – Bro. Lou always has the spouse of the candidate present and
includes her in the question and answer session. Bro. Lou always makes sure
that she is aware of the time and financial requirements of becoming a Mason
and that shis is comfortable with these requirements. Dennis Dendler, PM
also handles the investigation in the same manner and suggested everyone
else consider it. Bruce Gaston PM informed the group that he is available
Monday trhu Friday at the Masonic Center to show the facility. Bruce feels
it’s a good idea to let the perspective member receive a tour of our
impressive facility. |
| The DDGM reviewed the
new Call’em All program set up by Grand Lodge. The program has been
successful thus far and can be used for a variety of functions to include
stated meetings, extra meetings, special meetings, breakfasts, Lodge
Fundraisers, etc. All lodges should have this program implemented; any Lodge
having difficulty grasping the technology of implementing the program
should be able to look to other brethren who have successfully used the
program for assistance.
Jay Coleman is the financial director of the Southwest Berks County
Chapter of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans organization. Every year the
Southwest Berks Chapter donates money to various organizations that meet
certain criteria. This year Bro. Jay will be writing checks totaling
$37,000. He suggested that the District work with him possibly on a matching
funds program (for example) – If a Lodge donates $3000 to a charity meeting
the pre-set criteria, Thrivent may match that by adding $1000 to the
donation. The DDGM asked Bro. Jay to attend a Board of Governors meeting to
make a presentation to them about a possible partnership.
Dennis Dendler PM suggested that the district strongly consider having a
District wide Lodge meeting held during the daytime. Possibly held on a
Saturday, 3 to 4 times a year. The concept would be similar to a Daylight
Lodge and would enable those members who can’t attend their respective
evening Lodge meeting an opportunity to still participate in Lodge functions
and remain active within the Fraternity. This concept would also give
members the opportunity to meet other members within the district. Kevin
Ludwig PM made two suggestions, first that each Lodge designate a
representative so this program would come to fruition and that those
designated representatives would meet directly after each Past Masters
Steering Group with the initial kickoff after the May 3, 2008 meeting. The
following members volunteered to be on the committee; Lodge 62, Jeff Rhein,
PM, Lodge 227 – John Tumolo, III, PM (Recommended by Robert Hoyes, PM),
Lodge 435 Mike Huck, PM & Bruce Gaston, PM (Masonic Center Secretary), Lodge
660 Kevin Ludwig, PM It was also recommended that we consider conferring
degrees at these daytime meetings. The DDGM felt this was an outstanding
idea by Bro. Dendler who was appointed Chairman of the group and said he
would work diligently with the group to ensure they meet all of the Grand
Lodge requirements. |
